Why We Started Powerhouse
After working closely within the building and facilities environment, we saw an opportunity to create a service that was more agile, more hands-on and more connected to the day-to-day needs of residential communities. Powerhouse was built on the idea that good building management should feel organised, proactive and human.
Our Story
Powerhouse Management was founded on a simple idea: buildings perform better when they are managed with structure, accountability and genuine care.
Carlos Del Mar and his wife Amanda moved from Brazil to New Zealand in 2016, starting a new chapter in Auckland. Carlos brought more than a decade of experience in facilities and operations management at a large mining company in Brazil, where he developed strong skills in procurement, systems and operational leadership. Amanda’s career, rooted in the Supply Chain industry, provided a complementary expertise that would later prove invaluable in their shared ventures.
Starting again in a new country was not easy. Carlos took his first role in New Zealand as a porter in a five-star Auckland hotel, using the opportunity to improve his English and learn firsthand how high-quality service and attention to detail shape people’s experience in a building.
That experience sparked an idea: residential buildings deserved the same level of operational care, professionalism and coordination.
In 2020, Carlos and Amanda founded Powerhouse Management with a clear focus to bring structured, professional building management to residential and mixed-use communities across Auckland.
Starting a company during the COVID-19 pandemic was challenging, but the business steadily grew as more committees recognised the value of proactive management, clear communication and reliable operational oversight.
Today, Powerhouse supports buildings across Auckland with integrated building operations, maintenance coordination, compliance management and property care services. What began as a small founder-led business has grown into a dedicated team committed to helping buildings operate smoothly and maintain long-term value.
For Carlos and Amanda, success is not measured simply by the number of buildings managed. It is measured by the trust built with committees, residents and owners who rely on Powerhouse to keep their buildings running well.
